Financial Advisor, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney

>> Hi, I'm Denise Schirmann, I'm a certified financial planner with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. Well as an advisor, and a planner with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, I work directly with clients, to help them implement investment strategies and life planning strategies, for their businesses or their families. And I coordinate the resources at a global financial services, company like Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, for the benefit of my clients. So for instance, I will do due diligence on investment managers that we may, contract with to oversee certain portions of our client portfolios. We do regular reviews with clients, and day to day things that they may need, involving their financial lives. Well my typically day starts out, usually I have quite a few client meetings or phone calls, just updates and reviews. I have a staff of three additional people that work within my group, within Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, we're called The Schirmann Group, so I'm the person who coordinates the different resources and the staffing as well. So I have one advisor who works in conjunction with me, who does a lot of the implementation, so I will do the strategies for clients, existing or new clients, and reviews, if there are changes that need to be made, based on those meetings, then that is passed over to the other advisor in the group, who actually does the necessary implementation steps. For day to day operations I employ two operational people to answer questions clients have about statements or check processing, or different things that they need, so that is part of the day and that we meet every morning, for about fifteen minutes just to review what's on the schedule for the day and prepare. It's a traditional office hour, if you would, we open at eight and the office closes at five. However, often times I will have early morning meetings with an organization or with clients, or I'll have events in the evening. I will meet with clients, sometimes in the evening, but usually it's during office hours. So I work anywhere from forty to sixty hours a week, depending, because often times I'll do some of my research in the evenings from home, because I have access to all of those, online materials in the evening.
