PCOS Challenge: The National Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Association has available internships for the best and brightest graduate students seeking meaningful professional development in the fields of Event Management, Hospitality Management, Project Management, Program Management and Nonprofit Management.
Overview
This PCOS Challenge event management internship and practicum opportunity is being offered as part of a special Leadership and Management Trainee Program to help students gain invaluable hands-on experience with a wide range of events. PCOS Challenge hosts up to 26 in-person and virtual events and three major online campaigns each year, including conferences; black-tie galas; advocacy days and briefings for the U.S. Congress and state legislatures; 5K events nationally; online peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns; awareness campaigns and more.
Interns will have an opportunity to develop new skills and put their education and training into practice in a visible, high-impact way. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, interns will help execute a centralized event strategy supporting PCOS Challenge’s education, advocacy, engagement, fundraising, and philanthropy goals.
Responsibilities
Internship responsibilities include assisting PCOS Challenge with its event planning and engagement strategy; event communications; event marketing and advertising; event management; volunteer recruitment and management; and event evaluation and continuous improvement efforts.
Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities
- Previous experience with the management of in-person and online events, communications, and related metrics
- Ability to work independently, as a member of a high-functioning team, and manage volunteers
- Ability to anticipate needs and complete tasks proactively
- Strong reasoning skills and the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and make well-thought-through recommendations
- Strong administrative, operational, and organizational skills
- Outstanding written communication skills with various groups and in various formats (e.g., email communications to various stakeholders, press releases, technical scripts, articles, copywriting and web content)
- Proficiency with Google Workspace Applications (i.e., Google Sheets, Google Docs)
- Intermediate-level graphic design and layout skills (i.e., Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign or similar programs)
- Experience with CRM, email marketing, direct mail, social media management, WordPress, SEO, digital advertising, and/or Google Analytics is a plus.
Minimum Internship Time Commitment: 10 hours per week for 12 weeks
All internship work may be done remotely.
