2025 Summer Analyst – Leverage Finance

Position Overview
We are looking to hire a Summer Analyst for our Leveraged Finance team in our NYC office. This is a full-time, in office position (40-hours per week). This 10-week internship program will be starting in June 2024. This position will report into our firm’s Head of Leverage Finance and offers the opportunity for future full-time employment upon graduation. The day to day responsibilities will involve gathering and analyzing financial information on the high yield and leverage loan market enabling our investment team to make decisions in line with firm objectives.
This is a great opportunity for someone to learn more about high yield and leverage loan research department at an Alternative Asset Manager in the Credit space.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Masters Degree in Finance, Economics, or Mathematics from a top university with an expected graduation date of Winter 2025 or Spring 2026
- Top Academic Performance (Minimum 3.5 GPA)
- Strong Analytical Skills
- Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience with programming languages e.g Python, VBA, SQL is a plus
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
Responsibilities
- Employee will be responsible for supporting the Head of Leveraged finance and that team as they research various credits
- Evaluate first and second lien investment opportunities in the broadly syndicated and middle markets for the firms CLOs
- Utilize software to analyze securities and perform market research
- Assist the investment team by presenting research findings in a concise digestible fashion
- Collate and analyzing vast sums of financial information
- Drive process improvements, among other projects
In accordance with New York City’s Pay Transparency Law, the compensation for this role is $35 per hour at Obra Capital. Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits.
