Role Description
As a QA Engineer Intern at SkyIT, you will play a vital role in testing, validating, and assuring the quality of our fleet management and web applications. You will collaborate with product, development, and DevOps teams to design, implement, and automate comprehensive testing procedures. This internship is an excellent opportunity to build practical skills in manual and automated testing, bug reporting, and quality assurance best practices within an agile development environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Test new and existing site features thoroughly to ensure flawless functionality and high-quality user experience across frontend and backend systems.
- Review applications for accessibility compliance and usability best practices.
- Develop, document, and implement internal QA procedures and test plans aligned with project requirements.
- Execute manual test cases including functional, regression, and exploratory testing.
- Write clear, detailed bug reports and track issues using issue tracking tools.
- Participate in the creation and maintenance of automated tests to improve test coverage and efficiency.
- Collaborate actively with developers to reproduce, isolate, and resolve issues.
- Monitor test results, track quality metrics, and provide timely feedback to stakeholders.
- Contribute to ongoing process improvements within the QA team.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Currently pursuing (senior year of Bachelor’s) or completed a Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related engineering disciplines.
- Familiarity with software development life cycles and Agile methodologies.
- Understanding of QA fundamentals including test planning, bug reporting, and regression testing.
- Experience or coursework in writing test plans and executing test cases.
- Excellent attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality.
- Basic knowledge of frontend and backend web technologies is a plus.
- Ability to communicate clearly and document issues effectively.
- Strong analytic thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated with eagerness to learn automation tools and best practices.
- Proficient with Google Workspace and Slack, or quick to learn new tools.
Nice to Have (NTH)
- Experience with automated testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Jest, or similar).
- Familiarity with scripting or programming languages to support test automation (Python, JavaScript, etc.).
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and testing tools.
- Experience using bug tracking and test management systems (JIRA, TestRail, etc.).
- Previous internship or project experience involving QA activities
Internship Details:
- The minimum internship duration is 3 months and minimum working hours per week is 20 hours.
- This is an unpaid internship.
- All applicants MUST be a university master or above.
- We are a Canadian-based company.
- All positions are remote.
- We require mandatory meeting availability (depending on your role).
- Work hours are based in MST (Mountain Standard Time).
