Position Summary:

As our clients’ personal CFOs, we are considered trusted advisors for all financial aspects of their personal and professional lives. Our platinum-level client service model has allowed us to harvest deep rooted relationships with our clients and their other trusted advisors. Apercen FOS continues to grow, and we are seeking individuals who can advise clients as well as manage, grow and develop their own teams of professionals.

As a Staff Accountant, you will focus on accounting and financial analysis for your assigned clients and related entities. If you have a passion for client service and want to hone your accounting skills at the highest stage, you will love working at Apercen FOS.

Essential Functions:

  • Accurately enter invoices for payment, including vendor details, amounts, and general ledger coding
  • Prepare bank transfers in accounting system for funding purposes
  • Review brokerage account statements and prepare journal entries to record transactions
  • Prepare monthly bank and brokerage account reconciliations for assigned client entities
  • Record accounting transactions related to limited partnership funds, including capital calls, distributions, and gains/losses
  • Maintain asset subledgers related to personal assets, including real estate, aircraft, and watercraft
  • Prepare journal entries for month-end close with supervision from Senior Accountants
  • Assist in preparation of client financial statements, including (but not limited to) Balance Sheets, Statements of Income/Expenditures and other Ad Hoc reporting
  • Work with client team Senior Accountant to develop and implement policies and procedures
  • Support FOS client teams
  • Participate in client team and greater FOS group trainings

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Beginner level experience with Microsoft Excel (SUM, SUMIF, Lookup functions)
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external teams both verbally and via email
  • Possession of the utmost integrity and ability to uphold client confidentiality
  • Ability to adapt quickly to change and manage stress
  • Ability to think critically
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Ability to understand and carry out directions in an independent manner
  • Ability to process rush items or otherwise meet daily deadlines
  • Ability to act as the first line of internal control for cash disbursements by ensuring invoices are approved by proper client personnel
  • Possession of good decision-making skills and self-awareness

Desired Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of applicable experience
  • Intermediate/Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, Solver)
  • CPA eligibility (or working toward eligibility)
  • Master’s degree in accounting or related field is a plus, but not required

Apercen is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role for those assigned and/or hired to work in for New York City Metro Area, Colorado, Washington State, and California. The pay range for all localities is $26 – $31/hr. Individual pay rates within this range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, certifications, skills and geography.
